When to reveal the book cover?

As a book professional, I know that an effective marketing strategy to generate anticipation and start discussions around your new book is a cover reveal.

But when is the best time to reveal your new book cover to friends and followers? Let's explore this together.

First, it is important to remember that the cover reveal must be done at the right time.

Today we are bombarded by countless information coming from everywhere: computers, cell phones, TVs, radio and physical locations we usually frequent.

In practice, this is a problem because if you release the cover too early, people can quickly lose interest.

The brain simply discards information that will not be of immediate use. Therefore, people have a short memory and may be distracted by other things before the book is even released.

So what to do?

The moment to present the cover preview

The secret is to preview the cover and, before people lose interest, introduce them to the book.

The ideal time for this is when people are actively looking for new books to read.

This usually happens when they have just finished reading a book and are eager to start another.

This is when you need to stand out.

Reveal the cover and, in a few days, present the book to your audience.

Personally, I suggest a period of up to 20 days between the presentation of the cover and the book release.

How to reveal the book cover?

Once the cover is ready, start working on your book promotion strategy.

Use social media (such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube) to share posts about the cover with links to the book's pre-sale page.

Ideally, this page should be within your own website, containing the purchase link to other platforms, such as online stores (marketplaces) or even a direct purchase link with you, such as PagSeguro, Paypal or Eduzz, for example.

If you don't already have a website, this page could be the book's pre-launch page on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing, for example.

Interact with your audience

Never forget to respond to readers who comment on your book cover.

Show that you appreciate their enthusiasm!

Don't just create a post and let the topic die.

Systematically, create several posts throughout the days covering what the cover production process was like, from concept to execution, and how you arrived at the result.

Remember to also talk about the content your book delivers, whether fiction or non-fiction.

Keeping your audience warm throughout the days directly influences the sales results at launch, so don't neglect this step, ok?

You can also create an in-person event to reveal the book cover

Announce where and when it will take place and invite people to participate.

It could be in your home, in a cafe or somewhere with a more cultural feel.

Distribute bookmarks with the cover image or even souvenirs that refer to your work.

It's also worth calling writer friends and creating a literary saral.

The more people to liven up the event, the better!

Remember the influencers in your literary genre

Send short, impactful excerpts from the book, along with the cover, to influential people on the internet and around you.

Don't forget that the back cover is also part of the cover.

A good synopsis can be as effective as the cover itself.

So don't hesitate to be bold when writing the synopsis.

If you believe in your book and hope people will read it, you need to convince them that it's worth it, and the synopsis is the perfect place to convey that message.

Finally, remember that the cover reveal is just the beginning. As the cover begins to circulate, you will receive feedback and your book will begin to come to life.

Trust your work and feel free to be passionate about it.

I hope these tips help you successfully reveal the cover of your next book!
